GUGA
NAVAMI is celebreated on the 9th day after RAKSHA BANDHAN
or next day to JANAMASTHAMI. It is dedicated to serpent god “GUGA”
and people do pooja of serpents. Pooja is performed after taking head
bath and
you can take head bath one day eralier if
it(GUGA
NAVAMI)
is
on
Tuesday
/ Thursday.
This Pooja is mostly performed
at ‘GUGA MADI’ (common name for old pooja place in villages) Or
you can goto SHIVA temple. Due to different way of rituals depending
upon the family history, it is better to consult your elders. Two of
promienet ways are mentioned below -
1. First Method
- Make 2 plain Chappati / Roti and Keep shakkar on it.

Make 5 Snakes and 5 small Diyas out of kneaded wheat flour.

Take everything with you to ‘GUGA MADI’.
-
Keep Snakes near ‘GUGA MADI’ and put Kumkum & Coins.
-
Pour Kacchi Lassi on ‘GUGA MADI’ and save some to bring back home.

Sprinkle Lassi in all over your house.
Ingredients you need:-

Wheat Flour

100g Shakkar (Jagari-Powder)

50g of Desi Ghee
-
Kumkum
-
Coins(2/5/10 rupees)
-
Raw milk with Water(Kacchi Lassi)
2. Second Method
In
this method you can replace Chappati / Roti with Vermicilli (raw) and
remaining procedure remains same.
Ingredients you need:- same
as above + 450g Vermicilli (raw)
